Several lucky players in Texas have won prizes of a million dollars from the lottery. These included two scratch-off ticket enthusiasts, as well as one fortunate Powerball player.
Lucky Scratch-off Games Lover Wins $1
On September 4, the Texas Lottery unveiled several major winners, including a Graham resident who claimed a top prize worth $1 million. The player in question had bought a Mega Jumbo Bucks ticket from United Supermarket #520, a store located at 1229 Highway 16 S.
This was the second of the four top prizes of $1 million to be claimed, according to the Texas Lottery. This means that there are two more top prizes to be won still. The lottery added that the odds of winning any prize in Mega Jumbo Bucks are 1 in 3.76.
At launch, the game had more than $89.5 million in total prizes.
Second Scratch-off Fan Grabs $1M
The Texas Lottery announced that a separate winner, from San Antonio, who also chose to remain anonymous, won a similar prize from a Premier Play scratch-off ticket. The winner scooped up one of the 10 top prizes of $1 million after buying a ticket from Mariposa Groceries, located at 1438 W. Mariposa Drive, in San Antonio.
The Texas Lottery noted that Premier Play’s total prize pool stands at $137.5 million, with the odds of winning a prize being 1 in 3.55.
Powerball Player Narrowly Misses the Grand Prize
Finally, a Pearland resident who was taking a shot at the growing Powerball jackpot, won $1,000,004 instead. According to the Texas Lottery, the prize was won during the drawing on August 25 when the winning numbers were 16, 19, 34, 37, and 64. However, the winner did not correctly match the Powerball number, which was 22 at the time, and missed the grand prize narrowly.
Speaking of Powerball, the mouth-watering jackpot continues to go unclaimed and is standing at a staggering $1.7 billion with a cash value of $770.3 million as of the time of this writing.
Winner of $83.5M Finally Got Her Prize
In the meantime, the winner of an $83.5 million Texas Lottery prize finally reached her happy ending. After negotiating to receive the lump sum and after taxes, the woman, who spent months trying to get this money, received $35 million.
For context, the winner’s jackpot had been temporarily withheld due to the fact that it was won from a ticket purchased via a lottery courier app. While the prize had been won before lottery courier services were banned, the ongoing drama had put the jackpot payout in limbo.
